30 families attended the event that will last for two days, along with experts on peace negotiations, representatives of civil society organizations, and professional associations.
During the opening of the meeting, Co-Chair of İHD (Human Rights Association) Eren Keskin read messages from Ayşe Bülbül, the mother of 15-year-old Eren Bülbül who was martyred in Trabzon in 2017, and Makbule Kaymaz, the mother of 12-year-old Uğur Kaymaz who was killed in 2004 in the Kızıltepe district of Mardin.
Uğur Kaymaz lost his life as a result of the police firing in Kızıltepe, Mardin.
‘I CANNOT CONSENT’
In her message, Ayşe Bülbül expressed, “I am following the path of our state and nation so that other mothers’ hearts do not ache. I have been spending holidays without Eren for how many years. I do not want any other mother to spend their holidays without their children. I cannot consent to other mothers losing their children. What should I do if I don’t defend peace!”
‘LET NO HEARTS ACHE’
Makbule Kaymaz emphasized that they no longer want children to die anywhere in Turkey and delivered the following message: “I am a Kurdish mother. I lost my son when he was only 12 years old, with 13 bullets, together with his father. I am here so that this pain does not fall on the hearts of other mothers. Let no mother’s heart ache anymore, let no child grow up in a grave. We lost our children but we do not want to lose our hopes.”
